Grindstone ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Grindstone mobile application (the "App"). This page describes how we handle your information.
1. Information We Collect
Quiz Responses: When you take the personality quiz, your answers are processed locally on your device to generate trait scores and hustle matches. Your quiz responses are stored on your device.
Usage Data: We collect anonymous analytics data to improve the App, including screen views, feature usage, and crash reports. This data does not personally identify you.
Account Information: If you create an account (optional), we store a minimal authentication record to enable cross-device sync. We use Apple Sign-In and email authentication via Firebase.
Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system version, and a random device identifier for analytics and crash reporting.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To generate your personality profile and hustle matches
- To provide and maintain the App
- To detect, prevent, and fix crashes and bugs
- To understand how users interact with the App so we can improve it
- To send you notifications you have opted into (streak reminders, milestones)
3. Data Storage
Your quiz results, trait scores, and hustle progress are stored locally on your device. If you create an account, a copy of your profile data is synced to Firebase for backup and cross-device access. We do not sell your data.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Firebase — authentication and cloud data sync
- PostHog — anonymous product analytics
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing data they collect.
5. Notifications
If you grant notification permission, we may send local notifications (streak reminders, milestone celebrations, daily nudges). All notifications are generated on your device. You can disable them at any time in the App settings or your device settings.
6. Children's Privacy
Our App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
7. Data Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time by using the "Reset Profile" or "Delete Account" option in the App's Settings screen. This permanently removes your data from your device and our servers. You can also request deletion by emailing us.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by updating the effective date on this page.
